News Update – 24 April 2008. At last something good to write!  Pocketwood, in a thrilling finish at Worcester, finally got us off the cold list. His first win over jumps (his fourth overall) was made all the more poignant by the death of his breeder Mike Lewin last week. His full brother Pocket Too won at Great Leighs on Sunday and now Pocketwood has followed that up.  You get the feeling that Mike is sitting on his cloud still busily organising things!

Talking of Mike, for those who would like to go his funeral is at 2pm on Tuesday 29th April at Swindon Crematorium.

17 April 2008. Still not many runners to tell you about but a number of the sick horses have significantly improved, so hopefully by next month we should start to have a lot more on the track.

Code Violation, Da Bookie and Stroppi Poppi were our only runners since our last update. Code ran really well and showed she had learned from her first race. As regular readers will know, she is going to be a jumper and is merely getting some experience on the flat until the juvenile hurdle races start in June. Da Bookie hit all sorts of trouble in running at Kempton but still stuck on gamely as soon as a gap appeared. It has always been felt that he lacked resolution but he has shown no signs of that since coming here. Poppi as expected found 1m 2f at Bath a bit hot for her.

Still no news on One Alone’s foal - she’s now almost 3 weeks overdue so hopefully something will happen soon!

Lastly, some very sad news to report. Mike Lewin, who has been a long standing owner with us, passed away last night having been diagnosed with cancer 6 weeks ago. Mike owned amongst others One For Me, who was our first ever winner; he also bred Pocketwood. We currently have One For Me’s first foal, Second To Nun, in training. Mike has been a fantastic owner and friend to us and without him in the early days we would have struggled to continue. Our sincere condolences go to his wife Jerry, and children Samantha and Harry.
